ThinkPad Ultrabay HDD not detected

On my ThinkPad T60 Ubuntu 14.04 running the generic kernel does not detect Ultrabay hard disks. Switching to the 3.14.1 mainline kernel solves the problem. In particular this problem occurs not having any drive in the swappable slot during startup.

3.14.0-031400rc2-generic does not work
whereas
3.14.0-031400rc3-generic is working well

'Expired' what a joke! Just because nothing was done about it the bug didn't disappear.
Really, when plugging a ultrabay HDD it does not get detected, no kidding!

Maui Muc, just to advise, finding adjacent kernel versions as you commented in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1363600/comments/4 is not fully commit bisecting.
