Bug Description
Use the lasso or ellipse selection tool to select a region of an image in Pinta. Choose the 'Edit -> Copy' menu item. Change to another application (e.g. Paint.Net or MS Paint). Press CTRL-V to paste. The selected region is pasted correctly, but the rest of the bounding box surrounding the selection is filled with black. I had expected a white background. No big deal. It would be ideal if the black region had been pasted transparent, but that may not be possible to achieve.
Now for an inconsistency. Go back to Pinta, create a non-rectangular selection, choose the 'Edit -> Copy Merged' menu item, got to another application (e.g. MS Paint), and paste. This time, the whole rectangular selection bounding box has been pasted.

In my testing (Pinta 2.0 dev build -> Paint .NET) the rest of the pasted rectangle is transparent now, so I think only the Copy Merged issue is still valid
