Bug Description
Just jotting down an idea... it might be useful to pop up some extra information when users mouse over the left hand HEK selector. The most useful information might be the start and end time of the event. This time information is also only useful for certain events, like flares, eruptions, emerging flux, and coronal mass ejections. This is because most other HEK events are regular determinations of the presence of a feature/event, and don't actually measure how long the feature/event lasts.

I think this information would be better visualized by the Timeline feature.
We already display up to three lines of text in feature/event labels on hover events. Additional label text may create too much clutter. The Timeline feature is not completed, but the user can currently see the start/peak/end times of multiple events at once by clicking on their event markers to display the popup overlays.
Let me know if I've misunderstood the idea. I'm not sure what you meant by "left hand HEK selector". I am assuming the event marker (pin), since the checkbox interface for event types and FRMs represent multiple events each.
