Bug Description

Hello!
I have a problem shutting down the PC.
I state that the pc is new and I installed directly the version of ubuntu 14.04 and then of xubuntu 14.04.
When I turn it off after a few seconds (about 5 seconds) will restart on its own.
I did a lot of tests following the directions from the ubuntu forum (and others).

LINKS:
http://forum.ubuntu-it.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=583741
http://forum.ubuntu-it.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=584526&p=4633068#p4633068
http://www.hwupgrade.it/forum/showthread.php?t=2661759

However, I have not solved the problem because the pc was restarted always alone.
So they suggested I report the bug.

I also installed the upstream kernel, but the preoblema persists.

I'll post the results of lspci and lshw, and a video, in case they might be useful.

Thank you very much!

How are you shutting down the system? Are you using the task bar button, running 'sudo poweroff' from a terminal, or are you using the power switch?

Hi,
I tried to shutting down the system in various ways:
I used power switch and from terminal "sudo shutdown -h now" and "sudo
poweroff"
but nothing, the problem persists (nothing error from terminal).
The PC is switched off for a few seconds and then come back on
automatically.

I also tried to edit the grub file "/etc/default/grub." by changing the
string

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"

in

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash noapic nolapic"

but even this did not work.

looking forward to hearing from you soon,
Yours sincerely
Andrea

Can you enter the BIOS settings and see if there is an option turned on causing this? One such option may be "Wake from LAN".

The 3.13 and 3.14 stable trees are maintained by different maintainers, so it's possible that a fix may be in one and not the other yet. It would be helpful to test 3.13.11.9.
