UPnP plugin file missing in trusty

Bug Description

The "amarok" package in precise includes the file:

  /usr/lib/kde4/amarok_collection-upnpcollection.so

In same package in trusty does not include this file.

I suspect this causes the following error when I run "amarok --debug" in trusty:

[PluginManager] found plugin: "amarok_collection-upnpcollection" enabled: true

[WARNING] [PluginManager] "Failed to get factory 'amarok_collection-upnpcollection' from KPluginLoader: Could not find plugin 'UPnP Collection' for application 'amarok'"

I suspect this is why UPnP sources don't show up in the GUI.

Note: I asked about this previously in https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/amarok/+question/253240

In response to my question (link above) I got this reply from Myriam Schweingruber "The UPnP kio slave is not shipped because it is unmaintained, and there is no known replacement currently".

So this might not be a bug as such. But maybe while the plugin is not being shipped the option to enable it in the GUI should be removed/hidden to save confusion.

Making UPnP optional is already the case, please go to the Amarok Settings menu -> Configure Amarok -> Plugins and disable the UPnP collection.
AFAIK it is disabled by default in most distributions, else this would need to be done by distributions who do not ship an UPnP kio. Again, not an Amarok bug at all.

Changed in amarok (Ubuntu):
status: New → Invalid

Closing as this is not a bug, but a wrong setting. UPnP collection is not enabled by default.
