usplash not starting in xubuntu tribe 5

Binary package hint: usplash

Usplash does not start for me on Xubuntu tribe 5 (64 bit not tested) if the system is left it eventaully goes through the text boot proccess and starts.

system specs amd x2 3800 cpu ati x700 pro msi k9gm
