Bug Description

Hello there.

I found that on ubuntu array6 amd64 version there is a missing driver from
default kernel (2.6.10-) . This driver is
for SoundBlaster Live! 24Bit Integrated soundcard (example on MSi K8N SLI
Platinum motherboard).

LSPCI reports this card as SB Audigy LS. I googled a little about this problem.
I found this:

http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/doc-php/template.php?company=Creative+Labs&card=Sound+Blaster+Live+24bit.&chip=SB0310%2C+P17&module=ca0106#opt

This is a "howto" page how can you use this card under linux. It respond for a
module named snd-card-ca0106

This driver isn't in 2.6.10- kernel at now.

I found a 2.6.11-1 named and packaged kernel in universe repository and i found
that it contains this driver/module.

So any way to implement this "back" for 2.6.10 kernel which is default in hoary
(array6) ??

I think this problem live in other Platform too. I think it is a problem on all
platforms.

Regards

Christian Hamar alias krix

I think the SoundBlaster Live! 24 still doesn't work. I'm a newbie so I could be
wrong. I'm running Breezy Badger and have followed all the instructions at
ALSA's site (as linked here), but still no joy. when i chmod a+rw /dev/dsp
/dev/mixer /dev/sequencer /dev/midi, i get the error message that neither
/dev/sequencer nor /dev/midi directories exist.

installing alsa-utils, there are some errors at the end:

make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/alsa/alsa-utils-1.0.8/alsaconf'
Making install in po
make[2]: Entering directory `/usr/src/alsa/alsa-utils-1.0.8/alsaconf/po'

the CA0106 card is the only one detected when i go to systems/preferences/sound.
i've tried sudo lspci and the card is reported as Creative Labs SB Audigy LS,
which is the same driver according to ALSA. the card is onboard the motherboard
(msi k8n platinum in my case).
