Bug Description

I'm using xubuntu 14.04, I have an sli of two gtx 770, but sli is disabled, i'm using two monitors. When i updated the system to kernel 3.13.0-34, the package nvidia-331-updates failed to build and i need to reinstall, this also happened when i upgrated to kernel 3.13.0-33. After reinstall the nvidia package the system rename the xorg.conf to xorg.conf."date", i need to rename to xorg.conf to start the desktop. This also happens when i change any option of nvidia-settings. Sometimes when i restart the system rename another time the xorg.conf to xorg.conf."date" and the only option to start successfully the deskop is enter by the command startx, and then reboot and work perfectly, when the nvidia driver was updated this happens too. I don't know if this is a new bug.

I fixed this by removing the Intel graphics installer and the packages it installed. There is something wrong with the drm module that it supplies which in turn messes up the nvidia driver.

sudo apt-get purge i915* intel-linux-graphics-installer
