Bug Description

After having LMMS run a moment, playing the music, it always goes to a crackling glitchy sound. I have found a wrokaround and that is to kill/restart pulseaudio and restart LMMS but this only fixes it for a moment.

Hi,
Thanks for your bug report, however it is unclear what version of Ubuntu you are running,
or what version of LMMS you are running.

To find out what version of lmms you are running please type this into a terminal:

apt-cache policy lmms

and post the information you get

I am sorry about that,
there are some known bugs in that version, in fact I have been trying to get a fixed version SRU'd for trusty.
SRU = Stable Release Upgrade.
In the meantime, I have a PPA for the branch I want to SRU, if you could test it to confirm your bug is fixed in that branch I would be very glad. I could also link this bug report in with my SRU request as well.

Can confirm this bug still exists (in the Ubuntu Universe repository package at least). I am running Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid and using LMMS version 1.0.3-5. This glitch makes it impossible to actually do any editing or use the program for that matter.

Hi,
I just rebuilt a newer version of LMMS

I built it in an older PPA (ignore the numbering and release)
The package is actually:
1.0.3-src-0ubuntu1~ubuntu15.04.1

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:israeldahl/lmms1.0.3utopic
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install lmms

please test this version to see that the bug has been fixed upstream.
thank you!

Yes. We've managed to catch some of the issues but it's still an issue and this should stay open after lmms-1.2.0 is released. We've switched over to SDL as default backend and it's behaving better on this issue. With SDL I only see this when I intentionally press the system with maximum strain on CPU/RAM.
