Had the same problem while running adept_updater.
Will try again after reboot.
All other package upgraded fine.

Tried a second run (without reboot) to get kdm properly installed.
I get the following messages in the terminal:
*** stack smashing detected *** /usr/bin/perl terminated

subproces post-installation script killed bij signal (Segmentation error), core dumped

After reboot KDM refused to start.
I fixed the problem by running dselect from the commandline:
First select option 4 to fix any leftover configurations.
Then select option 3 to (re)install kdm, or any other package that still had to get upgraded.
What puzzles me is that the system now states I have kdm 4:3.5.7-1ubuntu16 installed?

Works absolutely OK for me after I rebooted, killed KDM which was running but showing nothing and then apt-get upgrade'ing. Maybe it works from the cli, try that, but kill KDM first.
