ubiquity never gets past the Preparing to install Ubuntu page in 12.04.5 live or ubiquity sessions

Installing 12.04.5 on mac fails to get passed the Preparing to install Ubuntu page.

can you file the bug with ubuntu-bug ubiquity after the session crashes into live cd session?

or alternatively please attach syslog and partman logs.

This is happening now with 20140806 i386. No way to collect logs because everything freezes requiring a hard reset. The 20140805.3 i386 image was OK.
