Bug Description

Binary package hint: mythtv

I have Gutsy with the latest updates at this date, on x86_64.

It is connected to an HDTV using DVI/HDMI and is running at 1920x1080.

I am currently using an NVIDIA card using the Ubuntu nvidia-glx. The problem existed as well when using an Intel GPU in the same machine (2.0 and 2.1.1 drivers).

The display is set hard to 100dpi in xorg.

All the normal theme stuff (menus, EPG, etc...) is displaying great.

BUT -- All the OSD, when watching TV, has fonts rendered badly, with weird aspect ratios and overlaps. This is for the OSD menu, the program information, the volume setting, position, etc...

I tried many different OSD themes with the same results.

Fonts are rendered properly when 4:3 "zoom" is selected.

Any info/dumps/logs/confs can be provided quickly upon request.

Have you tried a few different fonts/sizes for this? It would appear that Myth isn't cooperating well with the font sizes you've used.

Mario,

I think the fonts come with the themes. I have changed the themes, and still the same problem.

In the TV setting, I can change fonts for the OSD, big/small/default for the size, FreeSans/FreeMono for the fonts. That's all. And I get the same result, whatever the settings combination.

Is there a log file I could look at regarding Mythfrontend, it may spew a few lines about font rendering.

Outside the OSD, for the rest of the MythTV interface, all is fine.
