Bug Description

When using the restricted drivers manager, "firmware for Broadcom 43xx chipset family" does not install. I have selected "download from internet." The firmware downloads but does not actually install.

Also, using the browse button does not work when looking for a driver to extract the firmware from.

I am using an Acer Ferrari 3200

Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10 Tribe 5 32bit

i can confirm that the firmware is in fact downloaded, but not extracted just the /lib/firmware/bcm43xx_microcode11.fw file is created to prevent postscript from bcm43xx-fwcutter extract the firmware, the browse button doesn't work here either, and if i manually set the path where the firmware is, doesn't extract it either.

I am having this exact same problem. If I run bcm43xx-fwcutter from the command line all works as expected. With the Restricted Drivers Manager I get the same results as the OP. I am also running Gutsy Tribe 5 32-bit.
