Bug Description

Binary package hint: debian-installer

WEP wireless security is widely held to be weak so people should use WPA instead. Unfortunately the network setup stage of the installer doesn't support WPA even though wpa_supplicant is now well supported on an installed system. This issue could effectively prevent some users from using a minimal net install disc.

Shouldn't this be set to ubiquity?

Isn't ubiquity the LiveCD installer? This bug is for debian-installer ie text-mode install from Alternate CDs. AFAIK WPA does work on Live CDs.

This error still occurs in Kubuntu- and Ubuntu-10.10-Beta versions of mini.iso and alternate.iso.

It's still impossible to install via WPA2-WLAN using one of these CD images.

Finally fixed in Oneiric (after the next debian-installer upload, at any rate) by merging this upstream change:

netcfg (1.66) unstable; urgency=low
