VM status not updated after it's changed in DB

Change a VM state from “Active” to “Error” in DB, and the VM is always “active” on dashboard.
It seems the client/browser doesn't take any action to get the status for 'active' VMs.
It is monitored for 20 minutes.

I'm not sure modifying the db is a supported operation, but... could you provide more information on the steps you're following and what you're expecting? Do you mean that the dashboard keeps polling/refreshing the page, or that it isn't? We don't do real time communication yet for status and other changes (waiting on https://blueprints.launchpad.net/horizon/+spec/realtime-communication ) except in some specific cases.
