Bug Description

On a server system, I have a r8169 compatible network device running. After getting this kernel warning, communication is not possible anymore.

We upraded that System from 12.04.4 to 14.04.1, since then this error appear shortly after reboot. Disabling ASPM did not help ( pcie_aspm=off).

If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
