vapigen gives "assertion 'sym != NULL' failed"

This happends during when compiling latest version of NetworkManager:

** (vapigen-0.22:26654): CRITICAL **: vala_gir_parser_is_container: assertion 'sym != NULL' failed

See also Fedora bug: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=701793 which says it is fixed in Vala.
