Bug Description

Binary package hint: escputil

This is a new but report for an old problem with the Epson utility (escputil) that have already been reported and that has never been fixed (see: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gutenprint/+bug/36357).

The problem was there for me and others under Dapper and is still ther under Feisty (Kubuntu). I'm using escputil through the KDE print interface, with a Epson CX 5400 printer.

Bascicaly, when I'm trying to check ink level or to perform any other task with escputil, it reports the following:

"Error
Cannot open /Stylus CX5400 read/write: No such file or directory"

Thanks.

The bug is still present for me under Kubuntu Gutsy.

Linked to the upstream bug. there seems to be some confusion on that ug about whether it's actually fixed. Testing on Kubuntu Hardy would be appreciated (both 3.5 and 4.0 KDE versions ideally)
