Can't reply to nested messages in Thunderbird

Bug Description

Binary package hint: mozilla-thunderbird

When viewing a nested message (one which has been forwarded, for example) (viewed by double-clicking the message attachment row -- loads into it's own window) one is given reply and forward controls, but they don't function. This isn't unique to ubuntu's compile of Thunderbird. The windows version, for example, behaves in the same way. I defy anyone to explain how this could be a feature :)
Naturally, the expected behavior for the application would be to generate a forward or reply (depending on what is clicked) based on the message headers.

Cheers!
Matt

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 beta or later?
