Mint 17 doesnt start without recovery mode

Bug Description
This is strange.
I just recently made a new install using usb iso. Updated all the files that were available. Which caused that my screen resolution went very low (after x-server files) and 1920x1080 wasnt available. I installed ati drivers for 7870.
Now the situation is that If I boot normally the screen just stays blank, but if I go to recovery mode and resume boot, it starts normally.
