Bug Description

sometimes I face Xorg segfault on wake up from suspend/hibernation. I use this: http://askubuntu.com/a/387676/293492 workaraound and it works in 90% of cases. I also use radeon propertiary driver fglrx ( version 13.35.5). I may be wrong but I suspect that thos bug occurs when suspend is triggered by closing the laptop lid - when I use suspend button or pm-suspend command everything works fine.
I`m using ubuntu 14.04, xorg version is 1:7.7+1ubuntu8

to reproduce:
change power management close lid behaviour to "suspend"

close lid

open lid

Xserver does not restore correctly (blank screen). you can change session to tty1-6 and log in. Killing xorg restores systems functionality. if no action is made bu user after about 30 seconds X server resets automatically rastoring systems functionality

Picek, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/555/product-support/product/inspiron-15r-5537/drivers an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (A08). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette .

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status New.

Thank you for your understanding.
