Bug Description
Binary package hint: totem
I have a DVD containing amongst other things the file "event.mpg" which can also be downloaded from http://
If I double-click on this file (after installing gutsy i386 20070823 d-i) totem opens, and I'm then diverted into the codec search. After I have installed gstreamer0.

Thank you for your, I've just tried on a desktop CD and it works as expected for me. Totem opens the gnome-app-install dialog and lists the ugly, ffmpeg and fluendo plugins as options to install. I clicked to install the first one, acknowledged that universe needs to be used and the video is playing fine after installation. Could you run totem on a command line, try to play the video and note anything printed there? Does "gst-launch-0.10 playbin uri=file: ///path/ to/video" play it correctly?
