Bug Description

At the beginning of the installation of Lubuntu 14.04 Alternate PowerPC on an iMac G3 500 I get the error message

I have a working installation of an old (no longer supported) version of Lubuntu on the harddrive so I don't think it is related to hardware failure.

I tried to upgrade the current installation with the `do-release-update' command but unfortunately it failed and now I don't have a working installation anymore. I could reinstall the old version of Lubuntu and the run `apport-collect' but currently I don't have access to the computer in question.

Is the iMac G3 process non-pae? If so, that would explain why Precise and older can install without an issue.

@jsalisbury: I don't think it is, the CPU is a PowerPC 750.

What more information do I need to provide before we can change the status from "incomplete" to "new"? By the way I recently installed Debian 7.6 on the computer in question and it went smoothly.

@Joseph the G3 is a non-x86 processor - it uses a different kernel that does not require PAE.

for me the installation went well - PowerMac G5 , 7.3 , DualProcessor and Nvidia 5200 FX.

After installation , boot process with various results - striped colours , black screen, etc.

What helped me was to edit yaboot.conf

following this guide here

http://www.mintppc.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1289

so i was able to boot up and login normally and use computer.

but after "apt-get update"and "upgrade" i had to download many packages and afterwards i experienced kernel panic

kernel that was installed was number 3.13.

Installer used was 14.04 LTS Alternate Installer for PowerPC
