Similiar problems on Lenovo 3000 N100. The card behaves as if the "external amplifier" switch is permanently on (normally this causes the laptop to disable external speakers but causes distortion), but the switch itself disappears from mixer along with several other options.
Generally a second iteration of regression (last time I checked, several months ago, the Feisty drivers worked ok, with headphones auto-detection and without distortion. The gutsy kernel regressed to the state describe in bugs #88546 and #92719, and now regressed further.
