Applications won't launch when the "exec" line contains arguments

Bug Description

I am running Lubuntu 14.04, fully upgraded with only default repositories.

Installed kdegames, and noticed many of the games will not launch from lxlauncher. They do not give errors at the console or in .xsession-errors, they just don't run. The same applications run fine when launched from a terminal manually.

On further inspection, I found that consistently if an applications .desktop file in /usr/share/applications has arguments in its Exec value, it will not launch. Those without arguments in the command (i.e., just the executable name and nothing else) work fine.

Examples:

does not work:

Exec=kbounce -caption %c

works:
Exec=kapman
