Binary package hint: usplash
during the boot the usplash stop when checkdisk appears...could you do a % meter but with the usplash graphic?
and in archlinux for exemple, at start, if i'm in laptop-mode, on battery, the checkdisk don't start...it is cool if no serious errors....

Thanks for your bug report and for your contribution to ubuntu.
You bug report describe two bug, "checkdisk should not start when running on battery" and "usplash should not drop when checkdisk starts".
The first one is already fixed in the next ubuntu Hardy release and the second one is bug 38303, so I'll mark this bug as a duplicate. This way, you will be able to test latest packages and give your feedback on that bug report. Thanks again for your contribution.
