depends on mplayer/mencoder, which don't work with libav 10

It looks like we're going to have to remove mplayer and mencoder from utopic, since they don't work with libav 10 (see http://bugs.debian.org/732159). Could tovid perhaps use something like avconv for its encoding needs instead, and maybe mplayer2 or mpv for playing?

In the meantime, I'm moving this to utopic-proposed and blocking it from utopic by way of this bug.

Tovid 0.35.0 has just come out, and has support for ffmpeg OR libav, and mplayer OR mpv OR mplayer2. Additionally transcode has been made an OPTIONAL dependency, if not installed ffmpeg or avconv will be used for seeking.

I should have added that mencoder has also been removed as a dependency.
As well there are several dependencies listed that are NOT used by tovid besides mencoder now:

vcdimager (tovid no longer supports *VCD, and python-cairo ( it was never needed except to try out
experimental code that is no longer used.)
