/tset/LSB.usersgroups/commands/misc/T.misc stalls on cpt command, also several PAM failures on different runs

I've seen this on 2 completely different systems now (SLES11/s390x and Mandriva
Cooker/ia32). Not sure what's going on, the test has been around for a while.

Symptom:

/tset/LSB.usersgroups/commands/misc/T.misc stalls for some hours (14+ in this
latest case)

Execution screen in dist-checker shows:

ps shows:

killing the cpt process lets the tests resume, then dist-checker shows:
