Bug Description
Software Center shows Fotoxx 14.07 as available for installation.
The content however is the 2.5 year-old version 12.01.
Anyone installing this over a more recent version will lose a lot of work.
Please delete this now. If you cannot put the current version in the
repositories, please just delete it.

Hear me, oh Ubuntu! How can you abandon one of the very best Linux application programs of all, Fotoxx? Please offer up-to-date versions, instead!
That's all that should be necessary to say. But that message has been ignored for two-and-a-half years, so please read the rest.
Fotoxx is smaller and faster than any other equally competent photo editor and manager - and it's very competent indeed! It's also a pleasure to use, for beginners through advanced users. It's ready for use (just not in the Ubuntu Software Center). It's well-documented in English and other languages: www.kornelix. com/fotoxx. html
http://
So why has Ubuntu treated Fotoxx so badly? For years, the Ubuntu Software Center has claimed that an obsolete version of this great program is up to date. Not so! The years-old version you've offered often won't even load properly, and Ubuntu changes over that time can cause it to delete data. Thus frustrated would-be users report "bugs", and the good looks bad.
And yet, you continue to ignore the author's repository, which is updated on the first of every month. Marius Nestor has just written a fine Softpedia announcement of the latest, Fotoxx 14.07, which also has appeared in Lxer.com and elsewhere. Simultaneously, finally, the Ubuntu Software Center has updated the file-DATE to today's proper Fotoxx 14.07 - but sadly, it still downloads the same old and dangerous Fotoxx 12.01!
We understand that the Ubuntu Software Center is stretched thin. But, Canonical and volunteers, please make this right for Ubuntu and its users. (I now see that Launchpad lists a Fotoxx "maintainer" who explains that he does NOT maintain it; will a maintainer please step into that gap?) Give Ubuntu users the great Linux program they deserve; it's always available for download in the /packages section of its home page, at: www.kornelix. com/packages. html

Please keep this great program current in your Ubuntu Software Center. I and many other enthusiastic Ubuntu and Fotoxx users will thank you!
