Thanks for your bugreport.

Could you please remove the files in /var/cache/apt/*.bin and see if that fixes the issue? Does apt-cache search foo or some similar command crash too?

The objects seem to be correct, so that's likely an invalid cache file. Closing, as this just clutters up the bug list.
