Sound Recorder completely non-functional

Bug Description

The "Sound Recorder" application does not appear to function as a way to record sound. The application appears to do nothing usefull at all.

Ubuntu 14.04

$ apt-cache policy gnome-media

Is your "Record as" list empty as my, and 'gnome-audio-profiles-properties' show something in list? I look is my Bug #1411973 is same as your or no.

Yeah, the list is empty. Pressing record does nothing. Also, opening a file and pressing play does not function corrctly. There is no error message. Simply: nothing works. The app is completely broken and useless.
