AVG antivirus updates

I have installed AVG antivirus on my linux Ubuntu computer and I can not update it because it says I do not have access to the file. Is there any better antivirus for linux that I could use that won't take up too much space?

PS I feel I should mention that the file is the AVG update installer...

Setting to Invalid as Ubuntu doesn't ship AVG antivirus.

why do you appreciate the fact I have difficulties with this program? is it
an evil program? is it run by professor Malbolio?
I would really like to know...
