Bug Description

Since upgrade to 14.04 I've noticed that the number of ticks/markers that indicates the number of windows a the side of an application's icon is often incorrect. This seems to apply to Gnome Terminal, Firefox and Thunderbird and more.

Reproduction #1:
Open a terminal.
Right click the launcher icon and choose "New terminal".
Observe there's only one ticks.
Left click the launcher icon to expose both terminals.
Observe the number of ticks is corrected.
Choose either, it doesn't matter.
Close one of the terminals.
Observe there's still two ticks.

The number of ticks doesn't seem to refresh until something happens in the launcher - either you click on something in the launcher, but the ticks seems to correct themselves at other times that I can't quite put my finger on.

This is extremely distracting and interrupts work all the time checking to see what's left open to find that there's nothing there.
