Bug Description

New clean fully updated xubuntu 14.04 x64 install.

Attempted BOINC Manager intall from Ububntu Software Manager.

During instal, screen blanked, monitor turned off, system became completely unresponsive.

Remote login failed.

On reboot, system again became unresponsive.

Log in from another linux distro, logs showed segfault.

Threw in towel, re-installed.

I expected the installation to complete at least without brickeing the system.

What happened, system bricked.

This is really unlickely a boinc bug, rather a dpkg one (or linux one).
I have the same configuration as you, and I never faced such a problem, and neither I ever saw this kind of bug on boinc.

I would like if possible to have more informations about your system, if it was up-to-date prior to install boinc, and all the information that might help fixing the issue.

However as said before, this is unlickely a boinc bug.
