Bug Description

I tried to update my software. Got this popup message:
Software Updater
An unresolvable problem occurred while initialising the package information.

Please report this bug for the 'update-manager' package and try to include the following error message:
E:Encountered a section with no Package: header, E:Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/za.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_trusty-updates_universe_i18n_Translation-en, E:The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.

(I'm not sure if this is related to my Ubuntu Software Centre not wanting to run)

This problem has repeatedly appeared on my machine (14.04) over the last few weeks.

When it happens, I delete the file "/var/lib/apt/lists/za.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_trusty-updates_universe_i18n_Translation-en", run "apt-get update" and "apt-get upgrade" and it goes away.

However, a few days later, the same problem occurs.
