Unity Greeter doesn't display symlinked background.

I am a dropbox user so I keep all my photos in ~/Dropbox/Pictures and I create a symlink to that directory via ~/Pictures. When i set my background to a picture in that directory the greeter does not display my desktop background on the login screen. If I move the picture to /home/brian it works again. I tried changing the permissions for the files and folders, and I was unable to get it to properly work. It appears symlinked files do not work:
