Bug Description

CID: 201307-14038 Dell Vostro 5470

The brightness cannot be adjusted when running on Intel GPU
This bug is similar to bug 1332437, but this one is a I+N system

Steps:
1. Install 14.04 + update (3.13.0-29), boot to desktop
2. Try to adjust the screen brightness with hotkeys and "Brightness and Lock" applet

Expected result:
* Screen brightness could be adjusted in both ways.

Actual result:
* Unable to control screen brightness, the brightness indicator would change according to key press on the hotkeys

Just like bug 1332437, brightness control with the proprietary driver could work with the latest daily-live kernel
Also, it works with the driver removed (running the Intel GPU)

V2 still not working, if this fix applies to bug 1250401, I think you have the hardware.

Backlight control works with the kernel mentioned in #10.
But backlight dims slowly.
System has same behavior on 3.16-r3
Suspect that dim behavior is the hardware/BIOS issue.

I will submit a sauce patch for Dell Inspiron 5547/5447/5737 and Vostro 5470.

Verified with 14.04 stock image on this system again (in both UEFI / legacy mode), just like what Edward commented in comment #12, it dims slowly with both of the Intel and nVidia GPU.
Therefore I will mark this bug as Invalid.
Thanks!
