Bug Description

CID: 201305-13643 HP Pavilion 15

This system will suffer from the low-graphic mode issue (bug 1301839) after boot.
But this problem has been fixed, running "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade" from tty1 could solve this problem.

However, after upgraded, the display will be garbled.
Install the proprietary could solve it.
I will mark this bug as a blocker since the desktop is totally unusable.

Steps:
1. Install 14.04 + update (3.13.0-29) from tty1, boot to desktop.
(with xserver-xorg-video-ati version 1:7.3.0-1ubuntu3.1)

Expected result:
* Display should work after upgraded.

Actual result:
* Display grabled, screenshot attached.

[1002:6660] Works fine after upgrade on other systems, so I think it's the problem for [1002:9830]

This looks like memory corruption in the open driver. Does installing the 14.04.2 stack (lts-utopic) help?

Verified with 14.04.1 stock image, graphic will be garbled after boot with LiveUSB.
But with 14.04.3 stock image, graphic won't be garbled anymore from installation stage and after boot to desktop.

Therefore I will mark this bug as "Fix-Released"
Thanks
