Zukitwo main menu tree view truncated in Trusty flashback

I've actually noticed this for some time but noticed a new build today here:

So I gave it a try in Ubuntu Trusty flashback w/metacity and all looks well with the standard Menu Bar which displays Apps and Places separately and uses 'indicator-applet-complete' to display user actions such as logout, shutdown, etc.

But if you use the singular Main Menu button the tree view is always truncated by one menu item. You can see that in the attached screenshot where I display the default tree view and then a shortened tree view after removing some items using alacarte.

My best guess is that we're not allowing for the Places item in the Main Menu tree view but that's only a guess. I've noticed that clearlooks-phenix has the same problem but ambiance and radiance are OK, as is albatross.
