Bug Description

On running some Gutsy updates a few days ago, my system went from quiet to verbose mode during boot. Startup shows the progress bar and Ubuntu logo for a couple of blocks on the bar, then switches to verbose with text only. Shutdown shows only a black background with blinking cursor where there used to be only the progress bar and logo.

Worked around the problem by reverting from:
busybox-initramfs_1%3a1.1.3-5ubuntu3_i386.deb
    to
busybox-initramfs_1%3a1.1.3-5ubuntu1_i386.deb.

This might be the same problem as bug #131961.

For me it's fixed, so that I support the idea that this bug is a duplicate of bug #131961. Please update to current busybox-initramfs package and then reinstall usplash. If it's fixed for you, we can close this bug as duplicate.
