Bug Description

Linux Mint 17 amd64 fresh installed and up-to-date in 3 desktpos and 1 laptop.

I tried printing with "lpr -l" and "lpr -o raw" with local (usb-attached) and net printers and got nothing printed. After some research and trying different configs I tried printing to cups-pdf printer.

$ lpr -l somefile.txt

or

$ lpr -o raw somefile.txt

Produces an EMPTY file, with size 2.2 kB: /home/user/PDF/PDF.Pdf

$ lpr somefile.txt

Procduces file with text: /home/user/PDF/somefile.pdf

"lpr -l" and "lpr -o raw" should print files "as is", keeping filename.

I figured out that lpr is a command from cups. I tried finding bugs or something and I got nothing.

I add Debian Sid repository to try cups 1.7.3 and problem is still there... I will try downgrading cups a see...

I asked in CUPS https://www.cups.org/str.php?L4430 and Michel told me it seems CUPS had been patched and found nothing useful in logs (1.7.2-0)

I added Debian Sid repository and updated cups to 1.7.3-2.
I tried to print, 1st to Generic-CUPS-PDF and 2nd to OfficeJet Pro 8600

I downgraded cups to original Mint 1.7.2-0
I tied to print to OfficeJet Pro 8600 (which I forgot in earlier test), to verify if problem is with Ghostscript.

Results, in PDF, were the same:
- raw argument: blank page
- without raw argument: 2 correct pages of text

In OfficeJet, results were slightly different from PDF:
- raw argument: 1st line correct; 2nd line started printing at column 70 (more or less); no more lines were printed.
- without raw argument: 2 correct pages of text

Michel's last answer was: "Raw printing bypasses the print filter, so the printer/PDF backend is interpreting what you send directly."
