Bug Description

$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
Release: 14.04

When plugging my Samsung Note II into the USB port, I expect two Nautilus windows to pop up on the screen.

This worked fine before my upgrade.

There is no logging to /var/log/syslog when I plug in the device.

lsusb does not list the device.

I have also an HTC Vivid that would not mount after the upgrade. Recently however, it has started mounting properly.
The Samsung Note however, does not mount at all.

Thanks,

John

Note: The Samsung Note II does load as two drives on a windows laptop. It does not work with my Ubuntu desktop.

I have the same problem with Ubuntu 14.04. My canon camera still connects, and a memory card reader still connects. Out of curiosity, I turned on an old computer with Ubuntu 12.04 and connected the Samsung Note II and it was detected right away.

Some further notes: the card that I plugged into to the card reader was the one from my canon camera. When I tried to plud other cards no of them were read, only canon formatted card was readable. Finally I turned off my Samsung Note II and removed the card from it and plugged it into the card reader. The card showed up in the file manger but an error message box appeared with the following error message:

Error mounting /dev/sdd1 at /media/edward/3062-6439: Command-line `mount -t "exfat" -o "uhelper=udisks2,nodev,nosuid,uid=1000,gid=1000,iocharset=utf8,namecase=0,errors=remount-ro,umask=0077" "/dev/sdd1" "/media/edward/3062-6439"' exited with non-zero exit status 32: mount: unknown filesystem type 'exfat'

Hope that helps ! Aloha !

Hmmm, I'm a linux newbie trying to come up to speed. Hope I'm not overdoing it with details. I opened a terminal window and ran the blkid command. I have 3 hardrives in my machine, no optical disk, blkid is clearly showing 4 devices. Here is the readout from the blkid:
