Bug Description

Hi,

using neomagic on a dell latitude csx laptop, I ssh into a nearby linux server with X forwarding. I start mutt, then select an image for viewing, which runs xzgv on the server. The first time I did this, the xserver crashed before xzgv even displayed the image (though the window had appeared). The second time I did it (after rebooting), the image was displayed and then when I closed xzgv again the xserver crashed.

I will enclose logs, config, etc.

Gavin

I'm now comparing /var/log/Xorg.log and /var/log/Xorg.log.old. The second is from the last crash and is attached. The files are moreorless identical apart from different time stamps and VT number and an extra two lines at the bottom of the crash file. I've attached the crash file

gavin@chris:~ $ diff /var/log/Xorg.0.log*

The crash happens when you run xzgv locally too, no need to run it over ssh. I just opened the image from nautilus choosing xzgv as my alternate viewer application.

On this occasion, I got a backtrace in Xorg.log too. This is attached

In case it's important, here is the image

it works with xzgv opening other images, including the mediumubuntulogo.png on this launchpad page.

The xserver does restart most of the time, but it doesn't seem very stable with a reboot. If I try to switch to a text terminal, the console frequently locks up and acts generally strangely.

Can you reproduce this running Hardy alpha3? Livecd-session should be fine for testing.

I'm not sure when I'll next be near that laptop. I'll see what I can do.
