Bug Description

Unlike the sound indicator (on the top right of the window) and all other programs which let you use mouse wheel to control a slider, the volume slider inside the Sound Setting dialog attributes "mouse wheel up" to lower the volume and vice versa. All other programs attribute "mouse wheel up" to "volume up" which makes intuitive sense.

affects: alsa-driver (Ubuntu) → pulseaudio (Ubuntu)

The dialog that is affected by this bug is actually part of the "unity control center" so I'm not sure if paulseaudio would be a good project.

no longer affects: unity

Actually, further investigation shows this bug was reported for the unity-control-center just a month before I posted it here. Would you please mark this one as a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-control-center/+bug/1313331 ?
