I just installed the eternal damnation and it doesn't work, nothing special

I could do with a bit more info on this bug if possible. The output of the following commands might help:

dpkg -l | grep eternity
dpkg -l | grep eternal
uname -a

Also, do you see anything displayed in screensaver preferences?

What desktop are you using? Gnome, KDE, Xfce?

Are you using Compiz or Beryl?

...also, does this problem affect all of the eternity plugins you have installed (there's a default one under "Eternity" in screensaver preferences). If so, I might move the to bug to the "eternity" section.

I am using gnome, i think, its just ubuntu.

What do you mean by in screensaver preferences, there is just a window with
all the normal stuff in it.

im using neither compiz or beryl, should i?

Just a thought here...

There's a known bug where in System->Screensaver->Preferences, the demos do not show the correct size, so you only see part of the image. This results in a pure white screen for the Eternity plugin, but only in the demo screen. If you let the screensaver actually trigger for real, then it works fine. Just to be sure, does this problem only affect then demo or do you still get a white screen when the screensaver triggers for real?

Note that the screensaver should work with or without compiz/beryl, but they can affect things and I was just trying to work out what was different about your system.
