Abhishek, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per https://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Desktop+Boards&ProductLine=Intel%C2%AE+8+Series+Chipset+Boards&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+Desktop+Board+DH87RL an update to your BIOS is available (0325). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette .

Thank you for your understanding.

Hi Christopher,
Updating the BIOS worked (at least for now). I tested both methods: 'pm-suspend' and the automatic one. Both seem to work.

Sorry, I should have updated my BIOS before reporting bug.
Thank you for your help!

Abhishek, no worries on not updating the BIOS first before filing. I (among many others) also fell into the same trap a while back so I know the feeling. Despite this, this wouldn't be considered Status Fix Released as no commit fix was issued to address this problem as noted in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Status . Hence, this would considered Invalid due to being BIOS related versus linux kernel code related. Please feel free to report any future bugs you may find.
