Kazam crashes when trying to start recording

Bug Description

I open Kazam, then select a desktop area to record and click Capture. A gray box appears on the selected area, and after 5 seconds, when recording should start, Kazam crashes with:

Segmentation Fault (core dumped)

I am also affected by this issue, to the point that I can't use kazam. Is there a workaround until the bug is fixed?
