Bug Description

Binary package hint: pidgin

I've been using pidgin just fine with gmail notification in the gtalk account. It's been ok with really light volume. 1/2 messages at a time.

I started getting a new high volume mailing list and every time I launched pidgin it would core dump on me.

I started it with -n to prevent it from logging in and turned off checking of my gmail in the gtalk account and now it stays running stable again.

Here's sample output while running pidgin -d with the gmail checks running
(09:45:27) dbus: Need to register an object with the dbus subsystem. (If you are not a developer, please ignore this message.)

funny as Pidgin seems to work now after I disabled one or two of my repositories.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. There have been many changes in Ubuntu & Pidgin since the time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test a current, supported, Ubuntu version. If you can test it, and it is still an issue, please update this bug report with that information and change the status back to New.
