Bug Description

Put simply, there is no hardware acceleration whatsoever.

OpenGL vendor string: VMware, Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 3.4, 128 bits)
OpenGL version string: 2.1 Mesa 10.1.0
OpenGL shading language version string: 1.30

If I set the resolution above 800 x 600, the screen will begin displaying a ton of vertical lines and a distorted image.

llvmpipe is the expected 3D driver. There is no 3D hardware acceleration for SiS GPU's on Linux (and there probably never will be unless someone wants to reverse engineer it).

As for resolution issues, see if forcing vesa driver helps (you may be falling back on fbdev driver). https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-sis/+bug/1066464/comments/39
