Bug Description

Hi. Dunno if this is all one prob, or a couple.

New install of ubuntu 14.04, then as per https://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtipsproject/alternative, plus xubuntu and minus unity.

Menus in use are "classic menu indicator" and "Whisker menu"

1) I want to make new categories Astronomy, Editors, Map.
Gotta do +, Add Directory, but nothing lights up until I tickle Options on|off.
Then I can't move any launchers into Astronomy until I select Astronomy, +, Add Launcher, make a dummy launcher so Astronomy will open up. Then I'm able to move QGIS up into Astronomy. Before it will stick, I have to tickle Options on|off again.
So after all that, within menulibre, it looks ok.

Then I go to the 2 menus to see what's happened. Changes show up the standard categories. The destination category has it's new launchers.
But my non-standard categories don't show up in either menu, only in menulibre. Even when I put launchers into them, the launchers disappear.
And when I go to click the top right X of menulibre to exit, I get asked if I'm sure I want to delete the highlighted category, Map.

2) I use alacarte to make non-standard categories, and launchers, that do stick. They survive a reboot. Then menulibre, as soon as I move something from Multimedia to Map, both menus loose Map. So it looks like menulibre is not working with my menu, but reloading a pre-existing template.

3) When I go to deleting my non-standard categories Map, Astronomy, I can do one, but to delete a second, menulibre "closed unexpectedly" or simply freezes. So now I have 3 dead menulibres, but system monitor only shows one. Kill it, the other 2 don't show up in system monitor.

I really need my non-standard categories, so it looks like menulibre is not for me. This iteration of alacarte won't allow dragging lanuchers from one category to another, so less convenient, but overall more suitable.

Each of the issues listed sound like other reported -- and fix committed -- problems. If you could be so kind, please install the daily PPA with the following commands and give MenuLibre another shot.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:menulibre-dev/daily
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install menulibre

OK here goes.
Xubuntu 14.04 (actual, off xbultu 14.04 iso) then plus a bunch of goome & kde stuff.
New menulibre as above.

Test suite 1.
Use alacarte to set up some custom categories with launchers inside. NewCategory and Map
Reboot
Application Menu still OK
Open menulibre
Move AbiWord from Office to NewCategory.
In menulibre Office has changed its name to AbiWord, there's an Abiword launcher in NewCategory
In menulibre NewCategory and Map still exist.
Both WhiskerMenu and ApplicationMenu show both NewCategory and Map have disappeared, with their launchers, AbiWord launcher doesn't exist.
Close menulibre.
ApplicationsMenu shows Office has moved up the top of the menu, it's launchers are inside, except AbiWord
WhiskerMenu shows AbiWord in favourites (never actually used it) and Office has moved up just under All.

Test suite 2
Open menulibre
+ Add Directory, create new directory.
Notice AbiWord in the directory list, click it, dialog box opens "Do you want to save changes before leaving this launcher" click "Save"
AbiWord looks like a directory. Click something else.
NewDirectory and Map are still in menulibre, but empty.
Abiword has disappeared.

Now I want to put Accessibility from Other to NewCategory.
Click NewCategory, nothing happens.
+ Add Launcher, create Dummy. Now I can open NewCategory.
Move Accessibility into NewCategory. menulibre, ApplicationMenu & WhiskerMenu all look OK.
Close menulibre, reopen menulibre.
Both WhiskerMenu & ApplicationMenu show NewCategory, containing Dummy, that works.
But in menulibre NewCategory has lost it's contents, and Accessibility has disappeared from anywhere.

I want to move AccessPrompt from Other to NewCAtegory.
+ Add Launcher, create Dummy2. Now I can open NewCategory.
In menulibre, I find NewCategory contains dummy2, but not dummy
In both WhiskerMenu & ApplicationMenu, NewCategory shows dummy & dummy2.
Move AccessPrompt up to NewCategory. Get dialog box "Do you want to save changes before leaving this launcher" click "Save"
WhiskerMenu & ApplicationMenu no AccessPrompt.
I notice in menulibre AccessPrompt has "Hide from menus" On, so click OFF. Get dialog box "Do you want to save changes before leaving this launcher" click "Save"
Now ApplicationMenu has NewCategory but not AccessPrompt.
WhiskerMenu has NewCategory and AccessPrompt.

FWIW test suite 3
Use alacarte "Restore System Configuration"
ApplicationMenu and WhiskerMenu both show Office in the right place. AbiWord inside it. Map gone. NewCategory with dummy, dummy2
menulibre shows Office in the right place, AbiWord inside it, Map gone, NewCategory contains AccessPrompt.

Head spinning, HTH

These issues no longer seem to affect MenuLibre 2.2.2. Restoring system configuration via alacarte now creates duplicates of every folder. Closing this one out.
